Rampart System

The Rampart system, and its main planet, was annexed by the Li Halan during the Emperor Wars.

Aeneas

Aeneas is a world with very little atmosphere. Most people live in domed cities on its surface, or the pressurised caverns and mining areas below. It is administered for the Li Halan by Admiral Koxinga, from the naval station at New Carthage.

New Carthage
The only remaining habitable dome-city on Aeneas and the centre for mining work and the Li Halan naval patrols for this part of the system. It is falling, slowly, into disrepair and, as amenities and good food become scarce, panic starts to mount and opportunists gather. Passage off Aeneas is sought by many of the benighted citizens of New Carthage.
New Rome
This city was destroyed and irradiated during the Rampart Civil War between the Li Halan/Charioteer forces and the Rampart democratic seperatists. It is now deemed uninhabitable... but some are not so sure. It is still connected to mining outposts and New Carthage by the mostly un-maintained Second Republic-era transit system. The Shelit noble Tav-3 maintains an outpost here, staffed by his curiously blank minions and recently augmented with a powerful war-golem.
BioAg Model Farm
An experimental, fully automated, Grane(tm) production facility from the late Second Republic. Redeemed in a joint-venture between the Macleod-Hasegawa Syndicate and Tav-3 Shelit. Lightly killed by a rampaging war-golem, but slowly repairing. This facility was discovered to be the source of the tainted foodstuffs that were the cause of the "Yellow Plague", and part of some vile Antinomian plot. Tav-3 Shelit's minions were witting, but perhaps unknowing, accomplices in this foul deed.

Rampart

Rampart was a technological and industrial dynamo, and a hothouse for Republicanism. At one point its elected government even extended its influence into neighbouring Li Halan systems, but it's power is at an end now that House Li Halan has occupied the planet and incorporated it into their holdings. Republican ideals remain strong on Rampart though, and while the Rampart Democratic Alliance is broken the Rampart Resistance and its fighters continue to struggle against the Li Halan. Violence threatens to break out anew on Rampart, and regardless of who triumphs it is certain that its citizens will suffer even more before the fighting is finished.

Rampart is ruled by Duchess Magu Li Halan, from the capital city of Avaneir. The main cathedral is in the Church-administered city of Rio Azul and is dominated by the Orthodoxy. The main planetary agora in Avaneir is dominated by the Charioteer's Guild, especially off-world Charioteer's from Leagueheim who backed the Li Halan against their erstwhile guildmates.

Ranmpart has a single moon, Chevalier. The moon was partially terraformed during the Second Republic but the process was halted because of warfare and lack of investor confidence in the project and the last few centuries have seen its surface return to its original airless state. The only permanent inhabitants are a colony of Xanthippe nobles and their retainers.

Avaneir
An impressive city, sporting high technological sophistication in the central areas, and even some impressive amenities in the poorer sections. The formerly free Senate is now mainly filled with Li Halan puppets, although the shopping is almost as good as it was under the Republicans. High-speed monorails connect it with other urban areas across Rampart although war damaged some of the main routes and fear of terrorist attacks keeps passenger numbers low.
Padua
Sister-city to Avaneir, Padua is home to the industrial facilities that provide the prosperity that supports the glittering capital. Padua's starport sees more bulk cargo and houses the shipyards and repair bays. Padua's suburbs are less well provided with services than Avaneir's, although it has its own share of stately homes along the Roi Canal. The rising sea levels have been slowly drowning the coastal areas of the city for decades, but the neccessary civil engineering projects have been long delayed by the various wars on Rampart.
The Ceramanique Mountains
A range of rugged peaks in the continent of Delest. These heights are home to all manner of "subversives" - from prereflective heretics to RR terrorist cells - and the local Li Halan governor is said to be "taking the necessary steps"... more to come later, as events unfold...
Moonhaven Chevalier
A sophisticated moonbase built and maintained by House Xanthippe on Rampart's moon, Chevalier. The Xanthippe grow their wines and train their mercenary detachments here in the same way as in all their other moonhavens, the current Moonhavener has also undertaken contracts to provide docking and storage facilities to interested parties.

Starships

Cadre's ships

Maiden of Saiwuhn, Shuttle II
A simple, moderately well maintained shuttle that was formerly to be found on the passenger-liner the Maiden of Saiwuhn. It was mostly used to ferry passengers from the surface to the ship, since the Maiden was capable only of entering the atmosphere, but not of landing. It has minimal navigational shielding, no combat-grade shields, no armament, a pitiful reactor, and no jump-drive. It is basically a flying soup-tin. Confiscated by Dougal Macleod-Hasegawa shortly after landing.
Red Thistle
Formerly the personal vessel of Dougal Macleod-Hasegawa, this Caspian-class starship is now in possession of the cadre. It is a bit beaten-up and is in major need of a rename.

Other people's ships

Maiden of Saiwuhn
A fairly expensive and impressive passenger-liner that moves along the Byzantium Secundus - Aragon - Leagueheim - Midian - Apshai - Rampart - Grail - Pyre - Byzantium Secundus circuit. Its regular, if slow, progression and pleasant surrounds make it both a convenient way to travel and a relaxing cruise. The ship is officially registered on Rampart and is crewed mostly by Charioteers. It was originally, during the Second Republic, a scientific survey vessel; although now instead of labs it has suites, and instead of scientists its observation deck is filled with the wealthy and the leisured. Until the annexation of Rampart it was known as the Maiden of Padua, but has been "patriotically" renamed since then.
Maiden of Saiwuhn, Shuttle I
The second (or... first...) shuttle from the Maiden of Saiwuhn. It was last scene shortly after the cadre escaped from the Maiden during the pirate attack and is believed to be transporting a group of Reeves (or rather, Imperial Eye agents), some bewildered Charioteer crewmen, and a (hopefully) hidden cargo of fifteen more 'Delta 2.1 modules' for Boss Dougal Macleod-Hasegawa of New Carthage. Probably now contained within the bays of the Imperial frigate Circumspect.
Circumspect
An Imperial Swift-class frigate nominally engaged in anti-piracy sweeps in accordance with an agreement between the Emperor and the Houses; actually involved in supporting the activities of the Imperial Eye. Currently in geosynchronous orbit over New Carthage.

Red Thistle Caspian-class sloop (civilian escort)
The Caspian-class was a popular design for independent traders and wealthy amateur explorers during the height of the Second Republic. Originally designed by a now-defunct shipyard on Rampart, examples of the design have been refitted in a variety of configurations, with several re-armed models serving as part of the Li-Halan fleet.
The Red Thistle maintains it original fit, although it is a little battered and dirty. It appears that it was originally purposed with salvage operations since it is fitted with a tractor-beam, a non-standard piece of equipment for a vessel of this class.
