Ufies Locator

This page lists the locations of people on the userfriendly mailing list. Simply add your name (using the Edit Page link at the top - you will need to supply an author name at the top of the edit page) to the list, in the form:
latitude longitude "First name 'nick' Last name"
The information can be worked out using Heavens Above. You can then use the xplanet program to view everyones location.

To import this information into xplanet, on GNU/Linux (although xplanet will run on most other platforms):

1. Run mkdir ~/.xplanet
2. Run cp /usr/share/xplanet/config/default ~/.xplanet
3. Run mkdir ~/.xplanet/markers
4. Paste the marker data below into the file ~/.xplanet/markers/ufies.
5. Open the ~/.xplanet/default file in a text editor.
   • Find the "Earth" section.
   • Add marker_file=ufies into that section.
6. Try running xplanet -window -projection rectangular, the names and locations in the marker file should be shown clearly.
