ShadowMonsters: Timeline

Food Fight:

All the characters received an anonymous invitation to meet with someone at a Stuffer Shack. Being at the bottom of the barrel and strapped for cash they all decide to go along and see what eventuates. They all arrive and each takes their places around the store to await whatever is going to happen. They eye each other warily, especially the four Dual Natured characters who can see just how weird everyone is.

A cybered goon starts harassing the counter girl and everyone goes tense. When he pulls a sword as five of his friends come out of the wood work to hold up the store, all hell breaks loose. In three short seconds five of the offenders are dead and the one with the sword is missing his sword-arm. Three aisles have Ghoul shaped holes in them, and the scorch mark from the flash grenade is hidden by the pool of blood.

Not wanting to stick around, Mr Victor decides to leave and walks straight into a walking rip-off Bobba Fet mixed with the Predator, troll sized. The troll asks them to follow him out the back into the basement. There they meet with Julian Pungar. He details his recent run of misfortune, and how he wishes it fixed. He asks the runners to kill Long Nuyen. The runners can do what ever they want with the gang that Mr Nuyen is with (the Chiller Thrillers) as long as Nuyen dies.

The Death of Long Nuyen?

The group of Shadowrunners decided to complete the mission straight away. First they tortured the armless Slicer Dicer before "putting him on ice".They quickly went to the compound and scoped it out. It was a walled off area with barbed wire around the top. There was a building at either end of the compund and a road on either side. A motorized gate was watched from a booth. The game plan was quick and simple. Vincent set up a sniping position overlooking the compound and gate. Kel would sneak into the compound from the north accross the roof of the adjacent building. Vulf and Shade would come via the east wall (Vulf over in bat form while Shade came through it). Then Nian would mind control the gate operator to open up while her and Creeper (onb his bike) would come through the west gate. All went according to plan and in a few seconds everyone in the open was dead. Most of the party went into the coumpounds builing via the graound floor, while Shade went down the steps to the basement. Creeper and Nian butchered their way through the rave that was goin on inside while Vulf was waylaid by the bouncers (but not before depositing some delayed flashbangs into the middle of the dance floor). Kel snuck in the back way and made her way quietly to the bar. Shade met some resistance down stairs, but more in the form of narrow corridors than the pathetic guards (his sword is VERY large). While carnage was occuring upstairs he found an armoury and then a firing range with two oblivious (and drunk) gangers. Asking Vincent how many grenades he should use got him the reply "one should do". Shade thus used one BOX of grenades and a hole in the ceiling/floor was a result. Shade then found a small boy tied up and attached to a BTL deck.

After the murdering ceased the party gathered to hit the top floor where they believed Mr Nuyen to be. Creeper went first but found being Dual Natured has it's down side when he was assaulted by group of watchers when a Hearth Spirit used it's confusion power on him. Creeper retreated and the rest of the group came up to aid him, quickly dispatching the watchers. Nian launched herself at the Hearth Spirit, and noticed a large human hiding around the corner with a shotgun, who didn't notice her since she was invisible. A fight ensued where Creeper and Nian dealt with the spirit while Kim and Shade dealt to the man with the shotgun. While this was goping on Mr Vincent dealt with a man on that floor who was trying to find his hiding place, but who was himself bad at hiding. Creeper then burst through the next door, and met the full fury of Tommy-Two-Guns' heavy pistols. Tommy was understandably surprised when Creeper barely paused to notice the bullets that seemed to do nothing to him, before cutting a horrified Tommy in half. A weak voice from the otherside of the next door seemed to be enquiring as to Tommy's state of health. Shade went through that door and a stink spell suddenly dropped on the party. Shade was unaffected due to his Cybermantic nature, and quickly located the Pig Shaman hiding on the ceiling by levitating. Shade used his "pig sticker" to end the reign of nuisance of the Shaman formally known as Porcine. This left the party in a quandry. Where was Long Nuyen?

Vincent noticed an asian man sneaking towards the south of the compound, having escaped through the toilet window of the second floor during the upstairs battle. Not wanting the man to escape, Vincent removed both his legs with explosive round from his assault rifle. The man then attempted to crawl, so vincent removed his hands as well. Kim came out to retrieve him and was horrified when the bleeding man started hitting on her in order to convince her to let him go. A kick to the nuts and a blow to the head solved that. Shade found the safe upstairs, removed it from the wall and then tore off the door finding Nuyens PDA inside. Some of the characters then took Mr Nuyen to their fixer and handed him over to Hunter. They were paid for him as well as the PDA. Shade grabbed the BTL addicted youth and headed to his Street Doc. Creeper followed with the body of Tommy. Shade stopped and asked Creeper why he was following him and they reached an arrangement about the body. Creeper took it to his Doc who removed the cyber for a healthy amount of money, and also took care of the kid. Vulf took off to find a refridgeration unit for one of the shipping crates to be used as a freezer for the bodies of the gangers.

Once all was said and done Creeper and Vulf had moved into the compound after patching it up and had enough frozen bodies to last for quite a while. Creeper began recruiting Ghouls. Victor took some RPG's from the gangs armoury and left. Kim went off as well. Shade moved in upstairs in the compound, and with the help of the Doc discovered the kid was Otaku. He helped the tribe relocate, and has placed himself as their protector as well as making sure that the kid (named The Kyd) stayed off the chips. Nian took her money and left the compound to the three psychos.

No one knows what the final fate of Mr Nuyen was, but they assume he was killed.

Last Resort

Their fixer, Mr Pungar, contacted them a month after their last job with a tantalising one. Someone was in deep shit, and needed to be dug out asap. They were willing to pay well, and didn't have many options as far as runners were concerned. The group headed down town to Club Penumbra and met up with a man called Nigel. His mission was simple, break into a corporate research lab for which he had the interior plans and a secret entrence, retrieve a briefcase and deliver it to a specific place. It needed to be done that night, but he was willing to pay twenty thousand each, four times what they were usually paid. They accepted and headed back to the compound to gather their gear.

They went to the sewer access that Nigel had said to go to and walked for an hour before coming to a concrete wall. Using a can of solvent that Nigel had given them, they found that the wall became the consistency of Jelly. The wall was warded so only Kim and Vincent could enter (since the rest were dual natured). They found themselves in a storage closet next to a recovery room that opened into anmoperating theatre and then on into a cyberware laboratory. They spliced a maglock so that the Otaku could go to town on the system, and then went to retrieve their prize (stopping to get a few bedding supplies on the way for Creeper and his growing Ghoul army). They found the case and were heading back when they heard a booming noise. Vincent then noticed the fist shahped impressions in the steel blast door that led to the rest fo the corporate complex. As the Otaku alerted them that the system had gone on high alert the runners bid a hasty retreat.

They fled through the sewers and witnessed from afar that the site was under attack by by someone. They rang their Johnson (Nigel) and he aked them to drop the package to an elven lady in a few hours and bring the package she gives them to him. Not trusting him, the runners arranged to have someone (Vulf) meet Nigel at Penumbra just before the time of the drop. The meet is at an intersection in the warehouse district, and the runners decided to leave their case in an alley with Nian further down the street. Nigel didn't show and the lady was late. Fifteen minutes after the time stated, a car flew down the road and slammed into a lamp-post at the meeting place. A silent black helicopter with eight black clothed soldiers decendint from it immediately appeared above the car after coming over a roof. The runners decided to not interfere. The black clad soldiers took a case from the car, as a van pulled up and a completely metal man climbed out. Creeper noted he is was cyberzombie. As the runners started to leave to avoid trouble, a soldier looked at a device in his hand, pointed at the alley where the case was, and ordered everyone to open fire. The zombie took out both of the runners cars almost instantly as the runners and soldiers took up firing positions. Shade and Kim lay down a hail of fire from behind their cars while Vincent launched a LAW at the van the Zombie came from. Creeper ran for the case, but was cut down by the zombie who then took down Nian. With a combination of firepower, LAWs? and grenades Vincent (with the help of Kim, Shade and a regenerated Nian) forced the soldiers to retreat without the second case by inflicting massive casualties. The Zombie was forced to potect his mage handler and flee with the soldiers. Meanwhile Vulf was confronted my a mage with more soldiers. He killed the mage and made his escape, stealing the mages van which still had Nigels body in it.

Searching the car the runners find where the elven lady had planned on getting paid. Having no other option they took both cases to an abandonned high-rise and met up with some guy in a suit and his crucifix wearing bodyguard (with angelic elementals to boot) who was the employer of Nigel and the elven lady. Vincent managed to score the team an extra 10k by lying about how much Nigel offered them. As they prepared to leave from the underground car-park the body-guard announced that "they" were waiting out-side. For a future favour the runners agree to defend the suit so he can escape. Then the door smashed in and a van rolled down. Goons jumped out, and the zombie emerged.

A desperate battle ensued with Creeper, Nian and Shade all taking on the Cyberzombie. Vincent lay down a hail of fire (with a few grenades and rockets to keep it interesting) while Kim added her support. Vulf was taken down early by the zombie but regenerated back quickly. While the Goons took heavy losses (due to Kim and Vincent), they decided to retreat, but not after adding some bullets to the zombie melee. The zombie finally went down, and everyone scattered as its powerplant made I'm-going-to-explode-now noises. Creeper threw a near death Nian at the enemy, who were horrified to see her regenerate mid-flight. Vulf joined in the slaughter and soon all the goons were dead. Their client had fled during the fight, having run over a Goon on the way out.

After all was done and they had looted the bodies they headed their seperate ways. Most used their favour with their client (Nian: contact and information, Creeper: Information, Shade: Information, Vulf: Contacts, Kim: Contacts and a fake ID) except for Vincent.

Site of Desecration Pickings were slim after their last massive haul. Months went by with no work. The local Russians approached them with a quick job for little pay. The job was rather simple. Head into the mountains around Salish Shidhe territory, pick up a package, bring it back. They took the job, piled into a van and headed for the country. FOr? many it was one of their first memories of being in the wilderness among the trees. They passed the border easily and went through a small country town before heading off-road. A few hours later they found their path blocked by a fallen tree. Creeper and Shade rolled the offending lumber from their path, and were immediately challenged by a Horned Bear (Grisly with Ram horns). Shade instinctively noted they were being challenged formally and suggested one person should fight the bear. Creeper took up the challenge, but after taking a few bruised retreated. The runners chose a different route and the bear went back to guarding it's domain.

The runners arrived at the site where they were to meet the smugglers, to find a wrecked Banshee thunderbird and some very angry smugglers. After chatting with them they learned that the smugglers had been attacked at their last landing spot a few hours away by a bunch of Orks and Trolls. When they had fled, they fell foul of bad luck and crashed. The Orks and Trolls, calling themselves the Tooth Warriors, had taken the package. The smugglers shaman invformed them of a powerful spirit that was aiding the warriors. The smugglers managed to convince the runners to help them get their loot back and headed off to negotiate with the warriors.

On the way they came accross the warriors harrassing some locals. The locals had been hiding some downed smugglers (Johny Denver and his crew) and the warriors had come to punish them for it. It became apparent that the warriors were attacking smugglers for their loot with the help of a spirit called the Old One. Kaztok, leader of the warriors claimed to be able to control the Old One. The spirit himself was there, but dissapeared quickly. As the warriors headed back home (not feeling very safe without their spirit) the Old One approached members of the party who were on their own and enquired as to whether or not they were smugglers before dissapearing. The runners and smugglers approached the warriors on the way back to their camp. Kaztok agreed to negotiate at his camp. The camp was a patch of ground scoured clean by a fire that seemed to have been started by a downed helicopter. The helicopter had been turned into a shrine. While negotioations went underway, Nian was hidden on top of the helicopter, Vincent had a prime sniping position, and Vulf was secreted in the trees. The rest were at the camp. Kim got into a fight with a Troll (caused by the Old One) causing Vulf to attack the camp. Once two Trolls were dead (de-groined by Vulf and castrated by Kim) the Old One used Confusion to halt the pair and allow them to be captured (though Vulf required subdung by a pack of Trolls). Kim was forced to eat Tooth Warrior food, and got four spoonfuls in her before vomiting. Kaztok agreed to trade with the smugglers and headed off to his stash with Kim and the smugglers rigger. Creeper took his chance to converse with the Old One and learned that he only listened to Kaztok because Kaztok had convinced him that smugglers had deliberately harmed the forest.

When Kaztok returned he went back on his deal and ordered the runners to hand over their stuff. When it became apparent that the Old One was listening to the runners claims that he was being used, Kaztok ordered them to leave. The Old One then demanded that he be able to keep Creeper for himself, which caused Kaztok to fly into a rage and shoot Creeper (to little effect). All hell then broke loose. The Tooth Warriors ran away in a frenzied panic (as the Old one used Fear) and the smugglers started staring at the pretty lights (the Old Ones Confusion power). Vincent opened fire but the Old One intercepted the bullets with flying wildlife. The Old One then stated that he was done with Kaztok and that he would be leaving with the runners. Vincent then fired a rocket that was directed by stray winds into Kaztok's head. The runners and smugglers left with the loot and went back to the thunderbird. The runners took their package (and some of the smugglers stuff) and left the smugglers with the Old One. They dropped off their package, got paid and went home.

Silent House Mr Pungar contacted the runners with an urgent mission. Someone needed their expertese and they needed it now. After agreeing on a tidy sum the mission was laid out. A Paladin Medical helicopter had landed on the roof of a tenement bulding in the barrens in responce to an emergency call, and nothing had been heard from the team in hours and no one had entered or left the house in that time. Their mission was this; get into the building, retrieve any evidence that the Palidin team had been there, send the helicopter home by Autonav and retrive a mysterious vial from a specific room in the building. The mission screamed "cover-up". Because the area was reasonably well patrolled by lonestar (including airial surveilance), the runners would enter via the sewers.

The runners quickly made their way to the scene via the sewers and came across a nasty swarm of frightened Devil Rats, which Nian kept in line with a tigers glare. Vult flew in bat form to the helicopter and sent it home, but not before veiwing a sensor log af some very sickly looking people pulling out the pilot and dragging him inside. They made their way to the basement of the building which was a Shamanic lodge for a Rat Shaman. However there was no sign of a Rat Shaman or any rats. The magic of the lodge had been disrupted by some type of barrier spell around the building which had stopped at the lodges border. In the basement they found a peculiar little man who taught Kim that it's not polite to shoot strangers by using a Fear power. It became obvious it was a Free Hearth Spirit in Human Form that had been recently summoned. The body of the shaman in the next room showed that the shaman had died summoning it (meaning it was very powerful). Vincent placated the Rat-man with candy and discovered that the spirit had been summoned to prevent "the bad things" from leaving the building via the sewer. It also said "the bad things" were people who died and got back up, and that if the runners went up into the building he would not be able to let them leave.

The runners pressed on up into the building and saw that the walls in Astral writhed with blackness. The blackness responded to their movements as though alive. ont he ground floor they were attacked by their first zombie. More followed, but they seemed to go down easy enough with massive damage (though the old myth of shooting them in the head proved ineffective). Some had unique powers, such as the ability to regenerate and to influence (though rather inefectively) peoples minds. They aslo noted a sickly aura that looked like a type of disease, which was thew only indication of what was animating their bodies. Mass carnage ensued as the runners pushed up the staircase. On the second floor they found an incative magical circle enscribed on the floor that thaat the blackness seemed to center around. While various people watched the stairs, the runners went into the room with the vial. Kim, Vincent and Nian entered the room while the rest watched the corridor. They found the vial was labeled as a panacea of some description and had a Temple Corp. logo on it. It had a faint magical aura and traced of the disease in the zombies. There was blood all over the bed that looked like it had once held a very sick woman. A zombie in overalls with the Temple Corp. logo with his throat missing attacked the runners and was quickly dispatched. Then the former resident of the bed showed up. Fear washed over the group and all but Vincent and Nian were incapacitated, as frost began to form on the walls. A figure bathed in darkness slowly walked up the corridor as a helpless Creeper and Vulf lay cowering in it's presence. Vincent was not prepared to stick his head into the corridor, and so settled for an Anti-Personel grenade from his Ares Alpha. The Fear and Darkness instantly dissappeared as the mangled body of a woman wearing a night dress fell to the floor. As he was able to regain his control, creeper saw a black astral shaper leave the body and enter it again. He realised that the blackness on the walls was not one entity, but thousands of them, and this one was the most powerful. He also saw the body was about to get back up. Nian, Creeper and Vulf all lept on the corpe and pummeled the astral entity before it could recover, destroying it utterly. As zombies attacked up the stairs, Vincent set them alight with a petrol bomb. The magic circle then pulsed to life, and all the black shapes were pulled from the corpses and walls into it and into the metaplanes. The disease in the bodies began to die, now that there was no astral aura to sustain them. Vulf, Creeper and Nian used prodigious amounts of bleach (which Vulf even drank) to kill the disease that was still on their dual natured bodies. With the building on fire the runners went down the elevator shaft and into the basement. The Rat man was waiting. With quick words, impending fire and and allowing him to examine them, they were allowed to pass and fled the scene as the building collapsed. They delivered the vial, informationa about what they had witnessed and explained that any uniforms would have been destroyed in the fire. They got paid and they went home.

Problem Solving: Grave Robbing

From the Recollections of Vulf

We had been contacted again by our mysterious benefactor, determined as he was to eliminate the problem of the Judge and Executioner. He had located something called the 'Hidden Life' of the creature, and wanted it for his own use. He claimed to have a ritual which would not only stop the executioner, but prevent more of his kind from being created.
We were smuggled via T-Bird up and across the Native American Nations to the independant city of Utah, where meeting the locals did not prove fatal to the locals, more is the pity. In any case, we drove into the nearby Ute Nation and (with one minor 'Refreshment' stop for Vulf and Creeper) found our way to an old cemetary in a small town. This cemetary was guarded by just one old gravekeeper. The gravekeeper was fortunate that Vulf had already dined that evening and was merely rendered unconcious with a tranq patch.
When we found the "Tomb of the Unknown Warrior" we figured that this was the spot. A return to the gravekeepers hut for the keys to the Tomb and a quick return later (after scaring away some dogs) we were standing in front of the door to the tomb.
Putting the key in the lock did not seem to elicit any form of response, and we wandered on in. It was only when we pried the top off the sarcophagus that there was any indication that there was something wrong.
Kim, sitting out in the truck, was the first to notice the ghost, as he manifested a pair of handcannons and shot through the chassis, driving bullets into her abdomen, unphased, but unable to do much where she sat she flung herself out the other side and radioed for assistance, assistance that Creeper and Nairn were more than happy to provide. Mr Vincent and I were occupied attempting to extract the corpse from the coffin when we found that there were in fact two sets of bones in the crypt, one of which was a set from approximately World War Two, carelessly pushed to the bottom of the coffin, the other of which probably was about forty years older, and dressed in the rotted remains of a pinstripe suit.
While the others delt with Two-Guns outside (who was not keen to have his hidden life dragged away)Vincent and I bagged up the remains and made to go for the door. At that point Arm (who had been quiet while the heavy lifting was going on) piped up and said that the original bones should be left, ignoring the possibility that they had been corrupted after spending so long with mystical artefacts. Looked like explaining this while under fire was not going to get through his head so I dumped the original bones in their new bag back in the sarcophagus, and vincent and I made our way out to the truck, which was still functioning aganist all odds (in fact since the rest of we monsters were taking the bullets with our faces there wouldn't be that much damage to it).
After the body bits were well and truly out of the crypt Two-guns broke down and began cowering in the crypt, muttering about his past life. Significantly creeped out, we hung around for the important details, and then high-tailed it before he got violent again.
Next step was some sort of boat down south.....
