House Rules

Characteristics

Characters are generated using the point-buy method listed in the DMG. Characters have 32 points to purchase their characteristics at 1st level.
Characters do not receive a bonus characteristic point at 4th, 8th, 14th, 16th and 20th level. Instead the character gains an additional "purchase point" to improve their characteristics at each level after 1st.

ScoreModifierCostScoreModifierCost
6-2+215+28
7-2+116+310
8-1017+313
9-1118+416
100219+420
110320+524
12+1421+529
13+1522+634
14+26etc...etc...etc...

Hitpoints

Hitpoints are determined without the use of dice-rolling. The first level HD is "full", all subsequent HD are "half".

HD"Full""Half"
d44hp2hp
d66hp3hp
d88hp4hp
d1010hp5hp
d1212hp6hp
etc...etc...etc...

Example: A 10th level wizard with CON 16 has 42hp (4+2 at 1st level and 2+2 for every subsequent level. (4+2) + 9(2+2) = 42).

Skills

Any INT improvements gained at later levels provide the bonus skill points retroactively. The rationale for this is its a lot easier to work out and that more skill points encourages players to take skills that add to character, not skills that simply have game-mechanical advantages.

Feats

Toughness
This feat has been altered significantly. It now provides +1 hitpoint per HD.
Spell Focus and Improved Spell Focus
These feats revert to their 3.0e versions. They grant +2 and +4, respectively, to the DCs of the appropriate school of magic.
Spell Penetration and Improved Spell Penetration
These feats also revert to their 3.0e versions. They grant +2 and +4, respectively, to the level checks to defeat an opponents SR.

Clerics

All Clerics have Weapon Proficiency in their divine patron's favoured weapon.
Clerics do not all automatically have Heavy Armour Proficiency.
Clerics who possess the War domain do not receive Weapon Proficiency with their divine patron's favoured weapon (because they already have it). Instead they gain Weapon Focus with their divine patron's favoured weapon and Heavy Armour Proficiency.
