While I don't really have any jobs in the "real world", I have plenty to keep myself busy in holiday times, and during semester. I've done a lot of undergrad tutoring (1- and 200 level computer science papers), and currently am working for a couple of companies on an as-needed basis. Profiler Corporation, doing Java development and a few miscellanious other things, and Iso-Trace working on the software that runs a mass spectrometer to allow it to run in a fully automated fashion. For each of these, there are other tasks in the pipeline.

Spare time stuff...there isn't a lot of time for that at the moment. I have a few Open Source projects that I work on from time to time: iRATE Radio (a music recommendation and download system), NeurosDBM (synchronisation software for the Neuros MP3? player), and, most recently, eMusic/J (a download client for the eMusic.com music download service).

I've done a lot of undergrad tutoring (1- and 200 level computer science papers), and I'm a research assistant for a psychology lab, doing their programming and turning raw data into something more easily analysed. During the past couple of summers, I have landed work doing neural network research, which is fairly interesting. Oh, and last year I did the content generation side of the Scholia website (basically, the code that take a set of pictures, a defined contents page, and builds up the webpages templates and converts the images into something web-friendly (aside: the code for this is open source, but reasonably specific in what it does. If you would like a copy, details are here)).

At the moment I am doing my masters in http://ww.cs.otago.ac.nz computer science at [http://www.otago.ac.nz Otago University]]. I'll ideally be finishing that this year. I work in the artificial intellegence lab, with a handful of others doing all manner of random topics.

Should you be strangely interested, some of my random notes (really for my own benefit) live MastersWork.HomePage here?. It's on genetic algorithms. They're fun to play with in a geeky way. My fourth year (PgDipSci?) dissertation was on them also. If you are crazy-interested you can read it Attach:ga_thesis.pdf here Δ.
