The Characters
Player Characters
- Bethel ab Ishallon; "Betty" (played by Ian)
- A sneaky sneaky woman. (Female Human Bard 9/Shadowdancer 2/Virtuoso 2 Neutral/Neutral Evil)
- Status: Good (or rather, not especially evil - when anyone is watching at least).
- Possibly not evil; definately a bitch.
- Born in Sarfellen to a foreign slave woman, Bethel has rarely left the citys' walls. Being brought up a slave Bethel has seen the worst sides of Sarfellens' residents, commoner and noble alike. Her view of human nature is dim and the few times her hopes have been raised by some perceived act of kindness they were just as quickly dashed by betrayal and corruption. She rarely trusts anyone and never trusts the elven. Her manner is usually civil and charming but this is merely a very well maintained front designed to manipulate others. In less formal (or less important) company she is a bitter and sarcastic woman with a cruel sense of humour and a sharp tongue. When impassioned her voice is commanding and enchanting, her rages terrible to behold. Fortunately she is very apathetic.

- Karathai, formerly of the Seventh Legion; "Stevil" (played by Ben)
- An undead-loving priest. (Male Human Cleric (Severus) 12+1 level Lawful Evil)
- Status: Dead. Charred. At least, one hopes so.
- Gone; but possibly not for good...
- ...almost certainly for Evil...

- Kelmesh (played by Nick)
- A fanatically loyal soldier. (Male Gnoll Fighter 10 Lawful Neutral/Chaotic Evil)
- Status: Loyal, probably Hungry. Odiferous.
- Collects the spines of fallen opponents. Eww. You'd think he'd pick something more recognisable and more easily obtained. Eww.

- Linelle (played by Carla)
- A noisy purple-clad magician. (Female Human Wizard 13 Alignment?)
- Status: Purple. Worried.
- Not a lot is known about this flamboyantly clothed magician yet. She has been heard to mutter "At least this is better than my last job..." from time to time...

- Ne' Dusal (played by Matt)
- A kooky foreign inland druid. (Male Human (Foreigner) Druid 13 Chaotic Good/Hokey)
- Status: Weird. Okay.
- A bit of a weirdo. Looking for a seed.

- Perrin (played by Bruno)
- An introverted dart-flinger. (Male Halfling Rogue 11/Assassin 2 Lawful Neutral/Lawful Stupid)
- Status: Quiet. At least most of the time... (Thank the Gods...)
- "Watch out for this guy; he's got poison darts"
- Perrin was raised in the "village" (actually a country estate) of Tobias and Arabella, a pair of otherwise unknown nobles. There he was trained by Burth, and others, in the art of burglary to serve the interests of the City, as represented by Tobias and his cronies. Perrin does not know where the "village" is, nor what poison or magic weakened him when he left his encouraged solitude there, however the sorcerer Tercel removed this deterrent as he removed Perrin's belief that his previous employers were acting for the common good. He now serves Tercel as an infiltrator and, if necessary, assassin as Tercel works to better the city.
- Benhara Tinker; "Tinker" (formerly played by Pogo)
- A rather lonely adventurer. (Male Human Rogue 13 level Chaotic Good)
- Status: Good (literally this time).
- Drinking problem?
- Tinker has returned from whence he came, in the company of his de-petrified wife and the sorceress Behmer. And he only tried to kill Tercel once. Aww.
- Gregor (formerly played by Thomas)
- A shifty Magician. (Male Dwarven Wizard 11 Neutral Evil)
- Status: Drunk and irritating. Also Missing and possibly (hopefully?) Dead.
- Departed without word and has not been heard of since. Perhaps this could be construed as lesson to those that would attempt to pass out of the master's service without proper leave to do so?
Non-Player Characters
- Tercel, the Sorcerer
- A powerful and inscrutable magician. The players' patron.
- Strangely distant and at times emotionless. Has displayed a peculiar humour at times; a humour both ironic and mordant.
- Greensleeves
- Benhara Tinker's wife, currently very popular with the birdlife in Tercel's garden.
- An attractive woman of half-elven extraction, a former adventurer, and currently a statue. Again. Or at least, she was. Now back on Toril with Tinker.
- Lord Herstan Orvrael
- A powerful Estate-noble who controls several coastal wards. Interested in curious and quaint old religions.
- Has diversified his interests into the worship of human-sacrifice-demanding tentacled water-deities.
- Gehrl
- A mysterious foreign magician.
- Possesses a reputation for awakening things that should probably be left sleeping.
- Behmer
- An attractive yet pragmatic foreign magician.
- Formerly an employee of the Spice Cartel tasked with protecting a certain dockside warehouse. Now a client of Tercel, but she seems to be primarily desirous of passage out of Sarfellen. This may or may not have anything to do with the aforementioned warehouse's spectacular destruction. Possibly also elf-born, but who can really tell.
- Fiovarth
- An elderly priest and keeper of the Shrine of the Three Faces.
- Known as a useful provisioner of healing magics for a fee. In an uncharacteristic fit of altruism the cadre decided not go back and kill him simply because he could have possibly identified them to the Spice Cartel. According to locals: "Has been around forever".
- Ashten, of the Seventh Legion
- A knight of Severus. Spends a lot of time guarding reliquaries for some reason.
- Seems a bit intense; still, what do you expect? He did face down an angry Kelmesh and that is no mean feat.
- Keirsach, formerly of the Seventh Legion
- Another schismatic heretic from the Seventh Legion. These guys really need to re-evaluate their members or something...
- Keirsach is now without his soul, a state which leaves him predictably dead. He serves as a lesson to others on the perils of dealing with fiends and contract law.
Organisations
- The cult of Panzuriel
- A strange assembly of "nautically themed" individuals dedicated to the ancient and eerie god Panzuriel, the Downdragger.
- Lord Orvrael's latest endeavour, the cult seems to have stepped up its actitivites thanks to the Lord's alliance with the foreign magician Gherl.
- The Seventh Legion
- A temple of Severus, formed by an alliance of certain factions of His clergy and the former Imperial Seventh Legion.
- A stern bunch of militants. Allied with Tercel because they think he caused Karathai's death. Very gruesome banners and religious art.
- The Spice Cartel
- Formed from the remnants of an old Imperial Era corporation who held the monopoly on spices. Has now "horizontally integrated" into drugs and other forms of criminal endeavour.
- Unhappy fellows thanks principally to the fact that *someone* destroyed a full third of the dockside warehouses. Sadly this third included *every* Spice Cartel warehouse in the dock district. Currently struggling (and failing) to resist the advances of Lord Orvrael's criminal clients.
