Konrad Rothschild
< Yannic | Covenant Population | Gabriel >
Background
Konrad is comes from a well-to-do merchant family from the Duchy of Saxony. A red-haired child, with a deilacte constitution, Konrad was educated in a church school. While not overtly-pious adult, he is extremely sensitive to cruelty and is compassionate to those that have suffered injustice, betrayal and heart-break.
Through his numerous exploits as a middle-man and money lender and dealings with Nobles and Magi, he has become independetly wealthy.
Prone to fits and tremors in stressful situations, some look upon it as a sign of demonic possession. When in such a state he recieves visions that he cannot quite explain as the workings of demons, perhaps it is God that is testing him. Black birds are a common fixture is his visions, and he fears their presence.
He has been able to decipher two visions. He foresaw his wife dying in childbirth several weeks before their child was due to be born, and thought he tried to procure the best chiurgens and medicinal herbs, she passed away when his son Geric was born. In his grief he revealed that he knew she would die and he could do nothing to stop it. Rumors spread through her family that Konrad's dealings with demons had caused God to strike her down.
In the second vision he saw a large silver mine collapse, and while he pleaded with the miners and their Overlords to close the mine, they paid no heed and were killed when the mine caved in. When word spread that he had predicted the disaster, again he was accused of associating with demons, the church accused him of divination. Soon Konrad felt he had no choice but to appoint a manager to his office in Goslar, pack up what remained of his household and leave.
He travelled to Vannes with his son and two retainers to establish an office in 1367. A meeting with Conatus Sponte's Seneschal about the needs of an Alchemist piqued his interest, remembering Idonia from trade fairs in Saxony and he decided to assist the Covenant in obtaining its needs.

Otto
Character
Otto is a former monk. For undisclosed reasons he broke with his abbey and sought to travel the wider world. A life as a wagoneer suited this inclination and, since Otto had driven the wagons for his abbey, it also suited his skills.
Otto has a very weak voice, and it is extremely hard to hear what he is saying. This is rarely a problem though, since he is also extremely taciturn and prefers to observation to commentary.
