!Chretien
''A grizzled man in a suit of good mail eyes you as you approach where he is leaning against a fencepost. He straightens himself and looks you right in eye. "What goes?" he asks you directly in clipped Provencal.''
Chretien is an old soldier who has adopted Bertrand's unusual ideas about warfare because they work. He remembers the old way of doing things however and does not always feel very close to those that rely on him for protection. He is fiercely loyal to Bertrand though and has a deep, although sometimes hard to recognise, confidence in his leadership.
